Athletic Men: Aim for College Sports Before the Pros and Get a Free Fallback
Athletic men of African descent dream of the chance to become famous athletes and will often give every bit of their body in hopes of doing so. Even though many athletic men set their sights on the pros, sports can actually be their ticket to being rich without being famous if they are a little more prudent.
Meal ticket
The number of black athletes in various sports is painfully obvious – no matter what sport you are watching these days. Football, basketball, and track and field are dominated by them. And lately, even if you look to professional wrestling and golf, you find them. Sports are viewed as one thing that can get black men out of the neighborhoods that they are raised in and desire to escape.
The problem: no fallback
Of course, this often works for many men – but that is not always the case. Some men just aren’t lucky enough to get to the pros. And even worse, other men get there and experience an injury that ends their career and they are stuck just as penniless as they started, which often makes for a very bitter individual.
If athletic men would set their sights a little differently, they would encounter better results, even if they were never to get injured on the field. This is because sports provide more than one meal ticket. In addition to professional sports, African American men dominate college sports as well. College has many more advantages that the pros can’t always offer.
College sports
You actually have a better chance of being on television with college sports, which may be a little tough to believe. A full tuition scholarship to play college for a sport is much easier to obtain than a draft to a professional sport when you are young. College football or basketball doesn’t always bring you the fame that you obtain with professional sports, but you do still obtain some fame, as college sports are getting much more popular on television these days.
In addition to some TV time, with college sports, you also get an education. If you happen to not make it to the pros, or even if you do, you will have other options many that possibly even make more money that professional football if you are especially good. Also, if you get injured, which often happens with athletes that get a lot of play time, you will have something to fall back on that will still guarantee you a very good income.
Athletic men: if you are setting your sights on the pros, you could gain a big advantage in life by looking a different direction. Set your sights on college sports instead and get a free education along with your television time. You never know what could happen.
